Students Receive Hands-On Training for Careers in Technology

Indian Creek High School (Trafalgar, Ind.) is offering students the opportunity to graduate from high school with experience and knowledge that will help them secure a job in the technology field.
The Tech Tribe is made up of about a dozen students interested in computer science or technology. Students that take classes on these topics can join the team and essentially be part of the school's technology staff.
Seniors are given the opportunity to do hands-on training through their work based program.
Isaiah Lacey, who graduated from the high school this year, spent his summer working in the school with the tech staff. "I wanted to do it to get experience because I want to do this for a living," Lacey says. "I want to be in the computer science field somewhere."
Andrew Summers, director of technology for the Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson School Corporation, says the program allows students to get two years of experience often required for entry-level jobs. "The students become fully integrated into our technology team here," Summers says. "They take classes in the morning and are just another member of our staff in the afternoon."
