TechWomen is an initiative run by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in a partnership with the Institute of International Education and the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.  The idea is to provide mentorship and exchange programs for technical women from the Middle East and North Africa by pairing them with women from Bay Area technology companies.

This year three companies, Google, Huawei, and NetApp provided scholarships to the Grace Hopper Conference for six TechWomen alumnae.  The recipients are:

  • Maha Akkari, Lebanon
  • Lamia Ben Hiba, Morocco
  • Hania Gati, Algeria
  • Maysoun Ibrahim, Palestine
  • Mouna Lyoubi, Morocco
  • Reham Nasser, Egypt
