>Congratulations to the team from St. Petersburg State University, which emerged as World Champions of the 40th Annual ACM ICPC World Finals!

Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harvard University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology finished the competition in second, third, and fourth places respectively, all earning coveted gold medals. Full results can be found here.

It was an intense and exciting five hours with moments of focus and moments of celebration. One of the highlights from this year’s World Finals was when Chulalongkorn University solved the first problem. The university is based in Bangkok, so local attendees and ICPC volunteers from Thailand were very proud.

As more than 40,000 contestants competed worldwide, participating in the World Finals itself is a massive feat; to win is simply amazing.

Bill Poucher, ICPC Executive Director and Baylor University Professor, says it best: "The ACM-ICPC's impact on these students' productivity and opportunity lasts a lifetime. I am excited to see what these students will do with the dauntless problem-solving abilities they showcased at World Finals, as well as the knowledge they gained, as they continue their academic and professional pursuits."
