Graduates from the University of Washington with computer science degrees are finding high-paying jobs, but some graduates with degrees in biotech engineering aren't as lucky.
Xconomy.com reports that heavyweight tech companies in the greater Seattle area, like Microsoft and Google, are aggressively pursuing computer science graduates and are offering high pay packages, making it tough for smaller companies to fill positions.
Campus scuttlebutt says that one computer science student recently landed a job at Google with a $100,000 annual starting salary, a $40,000 signing bonus, and about $200,000 worth of the company's stock. All computer science seniors have job offers, and some have multiple offers, according to the campus grapevine.
Biotech engineering majors probably won't find nearly the same pay and perks when they graduate.
