Women and Technology an Untapped Part of Economy

Patrice Braun was live chatting on DOS-based programs in the 1980s. But this is far from the average person's experience.

As the interim director and senior research fellow at the University of Ballarat's Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness and the driving force behind the Asia Pacific Centre for Women and Technology, Braun's work focuses on empowering women in the digital era. She says it's vital that more opportunities are made available for women in information and technology jobs.

"As we are facing the greying of society and skills shortages in a number of industries, we need to look at alternatives and one of those alternatives is a very much untapped part of the workforce, which is women," Braun says.
