U.S. companies have been hiring workers from India for years, especially graduates of U.S. universities. But Indian companies, as well as American firms operating in India, are now trying to convince some of them to return to India.
A job fair at the San Jose Convention Center last weekend focused on helping companies recruit Indian workers who may be in the U.S. on a visa by informing them about the professional and economic opportunities back home. Organizers stressed that the job fair was for anyone interested in working in India.
Thirteen companies were involved in the fair. An East Coast version was held the previous weekend in New Jersey and drew about 1,000 people, organizers said.
"We are looking for professionals where there are gaps in the Indian market," said Sandeep Bhushan, the business head of Shine, a career site that is part of India-based HT Media.
