Google Awards $340,000 in STEM Grants

Google recently awarded $340,000 to 26 organizations that provide science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) enrichment programs to students in K-12 and higher education. The awards are part of Google's Roots in Science and Engineering program, which is designed to aid public and private organizations that support students through STEM initiatives. The recipients included 13 organizations in the United States, five in Africa, and eight in Europe.
The U.S.-based recipients received awards ranging from $10,000 to $25,000. Adventures with Robotics is a program of the Redeemer Community Partnership that brings engineering education to elementary students in the Los Angeles area. Black Girls Code is a computer programming program focused on females ages seven to 14 from underserved communities. My Introduction to Engineering Summer Camps is a high school outreach program from the University of Texas at Austin. Little Shop of Physics is a Colorado State University-based program that connects college students with more than 20,000 K-12 students every year, presenting more than 100 hands-on science stations that demonstrate principles ranging from motion to magnetism.
