New York City Shuts Down Unauthorized Sensors
Some New York payphones bearing ads managed by Titan360 are outfitted with smartphone-sniffing beacons. The city has ordered the beacons removed.

With little fanfare, urban areas have become overgrown by a tangle of sensors: cameras unobtrusively snapping pictures at traffic lights, microphones secretly triangulating the sound of gunshots, sensors silently tracking pedestrians through malls, stadiums, and airports.
