The latest quarterly "Reality Check" survey from TEKsystems suggests that IT budgets are on the rise, but hiring expectations are significantly lower than they were at the end of 2014. Meanwhile, tech execs have slightly more confidence in their IT department's ability to satisfy business demands than they did more than six months ago. Notably, fewer leaders expect hiring to increase in the third quarter after a significant uptick at the end of the first quarter this year. The top tech trends that are making the biggest impact upon organizations include cybersecurity, mobility, and DevOps.

Of the more than 240 CIOs, IT directors, and other tech leaders that took part in the survey, just 28% expect increases in full-time hiring for the immediate future, down from 40% at the end of last year. Fifty percent of surveyed CIOs and other tech leaders expect their IT budget to increase, up from 45% at the end of last year. Seventy-four percent express confidence in their IT department's ability to satisfy business demands, up slightly from 71% at the end of 2014. The consensus appears to be that the most difficult IT positions to fill will be the following: Security Specialists (cited by 40% of respondents), IT Architects (39%), Programmers and Developers (38%), Software Engineers (36%), and Project Managers (25%).
