There's been a lot of hand-wringing in recent years about the supply of IT professionals in the United States failing to keep pace with demand, and the need to fill the gap by bringing in people from overseas. But Boston's Northeastern University is doing something about it.
Three years ago, Northeastern launched its ALIGN program, an initiative aimed at creating a pipeline of graduates with a master's degree in computer science by drawing upon undergraduates with degrees in other disciplines, from English and political science to business and biotech.
The program addresses two of C-level officers' most pressing : the shortage of computer science students, and the lack of diversity.
