Visualizing the Best and Worst Paid Jobs in the Tech Sector
Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows there are plenty of high-paying technology jobs out there, but also positions with relatively low pay.
BLS figures from the technology sector served as the basis of a graphic showing the highest and lowest playing tech jobs in a two-pyramid visualization, with the 15 highest paying jobs in the top pyramid and the 15 lowest paying jobs in the inverted lower pyramid.
Managers generally sit at the top of the food chain. Computer and Information Systems Managers take home the best money on average, pulling in just under $72/hour. The technical support representatives at the bottom make roughly 75% less at $16.70/hour.
Even lower-end tech jobs pay above average compared to the rest of the economy. Median household income in the U.S. is about $59,000. Two spouses who both earn $16.70/hour would pull in over $69,000 a year.
