Raspberry Pi Opens Up Its Gender Balance in Computing Program
The GBIC project will investigate ways to make computing more inclusive.

Raspberry Pi is opening its gender balance in computing (GBIC) program to general recruitment, which will make it available to all primary and secondary schools in England.
The company launched the program in April and started running trials within a small group of schools around the U.K. The program, which is funded by the U.K. Department for Education, allows Raspberry Pi to work with schools and study different approaches to engage girls in computing. The expanded trials will run from 2019-2022 and include more than 15,000 students from more than 550 schools.
The GBIC program is a collaboration between the Raspberry Pi Foundation; STEM Learning; BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT; and the Behavioural Insights Team.
