How Many Technologists Are Relocating from Big Cities?

The remote work policies that followed from COVID-19 has technologists asking if they should continue living in expensive U.S. cities or consider relocating to where the cost of living is cheaper.
An anonymous survey by Blind found that a not-insignificant minority of technologists have left some of the country's most expensive, largest tech hubs. While the sample sizes are relatively small, it's clear that the majority of technologists have stuck with their cities.
In the Bay Area, 189 technologists said they have recently moved outside of the area. That included 18 percent of Google respondents, 27 percent at Facebook, and 19 percent of Apple respondents.
In Seattle, 120 respondents, or 23 percent, recently left the area, including 21 percent of Amazon respondents and 24 percent at Microsoft. In New York City, 60 respondents, or 23 percent, have recently left the area.
According to Dice's COVID-19 Sentiment Survey, technologists are extremely opposed to any kind of pay cut for living and working remotely.
