An analysis of software engineering wages from salary and benefits dataset creator Levels.fyi details compensation for various engineering positions at the highest-paying companies last year. Ridesharing company Lyft offered the most for entry-level engineers in 2020, with a median package of base salary, bonus, and stock grants of $230,000 annually, Levels.fyi said. Vacation rental online marketplace Airbnb, with $295,000 yearly, was the top listing for engineers with two to five years of experience.

Facebook offered the highest compensation for engineers with typically 15 or more years of experience, with a median compensation of $895,000 annually. Professional networking service LinkedIn's $461,000 package led the way for engineers with five-plus years of experience.
