2021's Best & Worst Metro Areas for STEM Professionals

STEM workers are in fierce demand across the United States, and STEM professions are expected to grow 8% between 2019 and 2029, according to the latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics analysis. The median annual STEM wage is $86,980, compared to $38,160 for all non-STEM occupations.
To determine the best markets for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) professionals, WalletHub compared the 100 largest metropolitan statistical areas across 20 key metrics.
Finding identified areas with the highest and lowest percentage of STEM workers in the workforce, areas with the highest and lowest STEM employment growth, annual median wages, housing affordability, quality of engineering universities, and other metrics.
