Salaries for Software Engineers Continue to Rise in Major Tech Hubs

The tech industry has been resilient throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the 2021 State of Software Engineers Report.

The highest in-demand skills for software engineers are Redux.js, Google Cloud, AWS, and React.js. Engineers proficient in Redux.js received 2.9x more interview requests than the marketplace average, while candidates with Google Cloud, AWS, and React.js skills received 2.7x more interviews.

Go and Scala are the most popular coding languages, landing candidates 2.3x and 2.2x more interview requests respectively.

Machine learning engineers are within the top 10 highest paid roles in major market (San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Toronto, and London), with San Francisco leading the way at $171k/year, a 4% increase over last year.

AR/VR engineers saw a 13% increase in pay in the SF Bay Area, to $180k/year on average. In New York, machine learning engineers experienced a 10% salary increase to $160k/year on average.
