A gift from technology giant Tencent will fund a new five-year postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
The funded fellowship is part of the new Dowling Postdoctoral Research Fellowship program, which recruits and supports talented early career engineering researchers, and equips them with the skills and experience to become global leaders.
The first fellowship will focus on developing a new area of expertise around quantum technology with an emphasis on quantum computing.
"We are . . . excited to be contributing to the development of this new research area for the Engineering Department and look forward to following the progress of the research," said Ling Ge, Chief European Representative at Tencent.
