White Men Happier With Tech Salaries Than Others, Report Finds

More women than men technologists are dissatisfied with their current compensation, and races other than White are less satisfied with their salaries that White technologists, according to Dice's first Equality in Tech Report, which covers race and gender data gathered through an online survey of 9,143 employed technologists.
The report presents technologists' views on racial and gender equality in the tech world and within their organizations, with a specific focus on race and gender equality and discrimination.
More than a third (35 percent) of technologist respondents who identified as women reported dissatisfaction with their current compensation, versus 29 percent of technologist respondents who identified as men. Overall, 57 percent of men reported satisfaction with current compensation, versus 53 percent of women.
Virtually half of technologists identifying as women (49 percent) believe they're underpaid relative to others with the same occupation and skill level.
While 60 percent of White technologist respondents reported being satisfied with their salary, only 50 percent of Black technologists said the same; the numbers dipped more for other groups, including Hispanic/Latino(a), Asian/Pacific Islande, and Asian Indian technologists.
