Partnership to Build Kubernetes Cluster for USTA
The University of Texas at San Antonio and the National Upcycled Computing Collective Inc. will provide the hardware necessary to build and maintain a Kubernetes cluster at the university. The computing tool, which runs virtual operating systems, will be made available to students enrolled in upper-level software engineering courses and Web technologies, and to selected faculty.
UTSA students will gain experience using Docker and Kubernetes, technologies that are becoming an industry standard.
"This is a huge boost for software engineering at UTSA," says Mark Robinson, assistant professor om the Department of Computer Science. "The value for our students as software developers and their future employers will be immense."
With the Kubernetes cluster, students will be able to deploy containerized projects, applications, and systems. They will also learn how to use these tools to build and execute an effective software development and operations pipeline.
