Which Developers Were Paid the Most in 2021?

The average salary of those defined as software developers in the United States has risen steadily from $152,000 in 2020 to $153,000 in 2021, Hired said in a recent report. Some developer jobs command higher salaries than others.

The highest paying non-C-suite role in 2021 is the Cloud Architect, according to Robert Half's 2022 Salary Guide, which is based on research conducted during the summer of 2021. The national average salary range for the 50th and 75th percentile of applicants for Cloud/Network Architect is $153,750 to $180,500. The range for Applications Architect is $150,500 to $180,250.

The range for Information Systems Security Manager is $157,250 to $187,750, the Salary Guide says. The range for Data Architect is $154,750 to $176,500. The range for Technology Consulting Director is $151,250 to $179,750. The range for Software and Applications Manager is $142,500 to $166,250.
