The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics released its jobs report Friday (June 3), finding U.S. employers added 390,000 jobs in May and the unemployment rate stayed at 3.6 percent for the third month in a row.
The numbers signal more opportunities for career growth. "There's never been a better time to look for a new job and it's also the best time to ask your boss for a raise, with unemployment low, wages rising, and a lot of job openings," says Chris Kayes, a professor of management at the George Washington University School of Business.
Companies are particularly desperate for managers, Kayes says, presenting an opportunity for those looking for a promotion or a move into management.
