Program Funds California Education Collaboratives

California's K-16 Education Collaboratives Grant Program has funded six education collaboratives involving seven state university campuses to increase access to higher education, graduate more students into stable careers, and strengthen the state's workforce.
The program's first six awards total $108.6 million, with each collaborative receiving about $18.1 million.
The regional collaboratives consist of state university campuses, community colleges, K-12 districts, county offices, and nonprofit partners. Their work will include diversifying faculty and staff, bridging technology gaps, supporting college preparation, and developing career pathways in the health care, education, business management, and engineering/computing sectors.
Some collaborative steps include greater STEM instruction in elementary schools, and more technical education courses in middle schools and high schools.
