Would You Like a QR Code In That Cookie?
Researchers developed a 3D printing method that embeds edible QR codes inside a cookie.

Researchers from Japan have developed a way to include an unobtrusive edible tag inside food, creating both the tag and in their original experiment cookies with a 3-D printing technique that doesn't change the food's appearance or taste.
They will present the method, called "interiqr," later this month at ACM UIST 2022.
Tags are common in the food industry, ranging from basic stickers on fruit to RFID tags that can automatically identification and track products. There is currently a race to develop edible tags for food.
The cookies printed by the researchers contain patterns of empty spaces that appear as tags which become visible when shining a light from behind the cookie, making information readily available to producers, retailers, and consumers at any stage from factory to consumption.
