Many Workers Are Willing to Take a Pay Cut to Work Remotely
Tech companies that allowed employees to work remotely before the pandemic are changing course.

Nearly a third of Americans workers are willing to take a pay cut for the ability to work remotely full time, according to The State of Remote Work report from Robert Half.
Some workers say they're willing to take a pay cut — with an average reduction of 18% — to remain fully remote, says Paul McDonald, a Robert Half senior executive director. Forty-seven percent of technology professionals, 42% of 18-to-25 year-olds, and 41% and working parents are most likely to accept a salary reduction to be fully remote.
The survey found that roughly three-quarters of workers say they are happier and more productive when they're working from home despite sometimes having to work longer hours.
Those preferences are running into a push by employers to get people back in the office. A recent Resume Builder survey found that nine out of 10 companies will require employees back to the office in 2023.
