Infosys Founder: India's Youngsters Should Work 70 Hours A Week

Youngsters in India need to work 70 hours a week in order for the country to compete with other economies that have made tremendous gains in recent decades, Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy said in a podcast.
The country's youth need to put in extra hours — like those in Japan and Germany after World War II — in order to compete with countries like China, he said.
"India's work productivity is one of the lowest in the world. Unless we improve our work productivity, unless we reduce corruption in the government at some level . . . we will not be able to compete with those countries that have made tremendous progress," he said.
Youth must say, "This is my country, I would like to work 70 hours a week," Murthy said.
