A stand-out finding in Ernst & Young's third annual Future Workplace Index shows that there was a remarkable shift away from fully remote working in 2023.
The number of respondents reporting a remote workplace model plummeted from 34% in 2022 to 1% in 2023, according to the report published in December.
In the same vein, 99% of respondents say they require employees to be in the office at least two days a week, with 32% of them requiring three days a week. Only 1% of employees are being asked to go into the office once a week or less.
Different stances on the workplace since the pandemic seem to be settling down in favor of back-to-the-office mandates. Francisco J. Acoba, EY Americas Co-Lead for Corporate Real Estate Consulting and Technology, says more people in the office may boost employee productivity too.
