Diverse research is more impactful in the business management field, with female influence growing stronger in the past decade, according to a study published in the Journal of Management Studies.
The study analyzed all articles published over 10 years, from January 2012 to December 2022, in the journal.
The empirical analysis examined three key aspects of teams' diversity: the international mix of authors; the number of different fields of study; and the balance of males and females.
"Our findings reveal that articles written by teams with a wide variety of backgrounds, expertise, and genders tend to receive more citations," says co-author Sorin Krammer, Professor of Strategy and International Business at the University of Surrey.
