Microsoft Offers Developers Access to Technical Computing Projects

Microsoft has provided developers with a resource for accessing early releases of software from its Technical Computing Initiative. The company has launched TC Labs, which is part of its DevLabs site on MSDN, and currently offers three pre-release technologies. The projects on TC Labs include TPL Dataflow, which enables parallel and concurrent .Net applications; Dryad, which supports data-intensive computing applications; and Sho, which provides an interactive environment for data-analysis prototyping.

"These projects give you a chance to learn about some of the technologies being developed as part of the Technical Computing Initiative, to gain early access to code, and to provide feedback for several TC-related innovative projects," says Microsoft's S. Somasegar. "Our goal moving forward is to add additional Technical Computing projects in pre-beta states to DevLabs in order to get your early feedback and insight and to help drive these technologies in the right direction."

The Technical Computing Initiative has led to built-in support for developing and debugging multi- and many-core applications in several Microsoft programs.
