Humanoid Robots Catch Imagination at National Symposium in Pune
Research and Development Establishment, Engineers, recently held a two-day national symposium on robotics and autonomous vehicles, which featured 250 delegates that discussed humanoid robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, and wall-climbing robots.
For example, scientists from the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics demonstrated a wall-climbing robot in one stall while BITS Pilani students discussed their humanoid robot in another stall. BITS Pilani student Akash Gupta says the robot just won two silver medals at the World Robogames.
"We are still perfecting the balance of the robot and hence have not decided on the application stage," Gupta says.
Other popular devices at the symposium included deployable sensors, called Iris and Mole, which can instantly record and send audio and video information and could be useful in monitoring sites that have been attacked by terrorists.
