World's First University With Indoor Navigation App
The Campus Guide app enables users to navigate inside buildings on the Norwegian University of Science and Technology campus.

Students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) are using a new application that serves as a guide both outside and inside buildings.
Still under development, Campus Guide is available for free for iPhone and Android users, and on the Web. The location-based service shows users the way to the right buildings, floor, and room inside the building. The system locates the user's indoor position with an accuracy of up to five to 10 meters using NTNU's Wi-Fi network, which has more than 1,800 wireless routers, and uses global positioning system positioning outdoors to offer users approximately the same precision. In addition, users will be able to add locations or content that they think should be included in Campus Guide.
The application began as a student project in the Department of Computer and Information Science in 2008, and it has been further developed by NTNU and Wireless Trondheim. The researchers note that indoor navigation systems are expected to command a large market globally because of the spread of smartphones and wireless networks.
