Steve Jobs, Apple's Visionary, Dies at 56

Steven P. Jobs, the visionary co-founder of Apple who helped usher in the era of personal computers and then led a cultural transformation in the way music, movies and mobile communications were experienced in the digital age, died Wednesday. He was 56.

Jobs played a direct role in shaping the products that made Apple a technology and business leader. The 317 Apple patents with his name as an inventor show Jobs' attention to the minute details of his company's iconic products.
