Demand For Linux Skills Sets a New Record This Month

People with Linux skills and experience have a good chance of finding a Linux job, or landing a better position.

With numerous firms actively seeking Linux professionals, employers are paying higher wages and more bonuses and offering flexible work schedules and additional training, according to a February report from the Linux Foundation and Dice.com.

New data from Dice.com estimates that the number of Linux job postings rose to a new high of 12,007 on April 2. Dice.com's Rachel Ceccarelli says the figure represents an increase of 17 percent from a year ago. The Linux Foundation/Dice.com study in February suggested a new level of urgency for Linux skills among employers. People who lack those skills should consider online education or programs such as the Linux Professional Institute this summer.
