What's Next For the Presidential Innovation Fellows?

The Presidential Innovation Fellows program is seeking its next wave of fellows to build on the foundation of the projects launched by the first wave. Four projects from the first generation of fellows will be carried over, and the new fellows will launch an additional five projects.
The program brought 18 individuals from across the United States to Washington, D.C., to work for six months on using technology to tackle critical government challenges in a way that would benefit the public, save taxpayer money, and create jobs.
The initiatives included Blue Button for America, RFP-EZ, MyGov (later renamed MyUSA), Better Than Cash, and Open Data.
MyUSA aimed to streamline online access to government information and services across different agencies. The MyUSA fellows produced four deliverables, including the Discovery Bar, Account, Apps, and Forms. The Discovery Bar provides tools and application programming interfaces to link various government Web sites, and can be integrated into agency sites to guide users to relevant services and information. Meanwhile, a MyUSA Account provides a unified point of access to government services, and MyUSA Apps enable apps to obtain basic user profile information to enable government agencies to create workflows for common transactions.
