The Linux Foundation is expanding its training options to help Linux developers. The foundation has added two courses to its program, OpenStack Cloud Architecture and Deployment and Linux Enterprise Automation.

The courses were added to reflect the changing role of Linux developers, says the foundation's Amanda McPherson. Linux professionals are working more with cloud systems, automation technologies, and in agile development environments. Today, Linux developers "are much more of an orchestrator than a mechanic," McPherson notes.

The training includes mastering technologies such as the IT automation tool Puppet, and Spacewalk, a management system. About 20 percent of the coursework involves people skills, and how to work with collaborative communities.
