Sdsc Launches 'sherlock' to Solve Complex National Challenges
The San Diego Supercomputer Center, part of the University of California, San Diego, has offered Sherlock technology to provide U.S. federal, state, and local governments, as well as universities, with healthcare and governmental IT services.

The University of California, San Diego's San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), through a public partnership, is offering Sherlock technology to provide healthcare and government IT services to federal, state, and local governments as well as universities across the United States.
"We wanted to find a way to more clearly communicate our capabilities to potential partners, because we realize that the data management, technology, and policy challenges, especially in the health sector, can be overwhelmingly complex and confusing," says Sherlock director Dallas Thornton.
SDSC and partners SD Technology and Chickasaw Nation Industries have expertise in cloud computing, cybersecurity, data management and mining, application development, high-performance computing, big data, and visualization. The team has created solutions for a range of initiatives such as healthcare fraud.
Sherlock currently comprises four major solutions, including Sherlock Analytics, Sherlock Case Management, Sherlock Cloud, and Sherlock Data Lab. In the SDSC Data Center, Sherlock Cloud systems interconnect with a 10 Gbps network fabric, and wide-area networking offers more than 100 Gbps of high-bandwidth connections to the Internet and research networks such as Internet2 and National Lambda Rail.
