It Skills That Are in Demand, and Those That Will Be
A recent survey found that IT professionals with cloud and security-related certifications were in greatest demand.

Information technology (IT) professionals with cloud and security-related certifications were the most in demand, according to a recent Foote Partners survey of 2,600 employers that examined their need for certified and noncertified IT skill sets.
Certified skills are typically vendor-driven and are part of product marketing, while noncertified skills reflect actual market demand by employers. The survey found the top three noncertified skills to be JavaFX, SAP Business Objects Data Integrator, and business performance management software and systems.
Foote views JavaFX as a niche skill, and not one with long staying power. Meanwhile, Oracle Exadata, the in-memory system skills, Scrum, and predictive analytics are seen as the skills most likely to gain value over the long-run.
The survey found although the value of certifications with employers has declined, it recently has started to rise again, especially as demand for security and cloud certifications increase. The survey determined the top three certified skills are SAS Certified Advanced Programmer, GIAC Certified Penetration Tester, and InfoSys Security Management Professional.
Finally, the IT certifications projected to have strong growth over the next three to six months are related to cloud, architecture, agile, systems and networking, security, and data centers, according to the survey.
