New Cyber Programs Debut in California, Louisiana
The University of San Diego and Louisiana Tech University are each creating new cyber programs.

Louisiana Tech University (Louisiana Tech) and the University of San Diego (USD) are creating new cyber programs.
Louisiana Tech is working with the Cyber Innovation Center to develop a non-profit focused on facilitating partnerships between public and private entities to boost technology research, development, and commercialization in the cyber, energy, and resiliency fields. The Louisiana Tech Research Institute (LTRI), which will initially concentrate on research in cybersecurity, cloud computing, big data, sensors, and mobile technology, will be key to supporting the overall ecosystem for boosting innovation, new business enterprises, and federal research funding. LTRI also will cooperate with local, state, and federal governments; members of the cybersecurity industry, and private companies to expand educational facilities located within the National Cyber Research Park.
Meanwhile, USD's Center for Cyber Security Engineering and Technology (CCSET) will help prepare the next generation of cyber warriors. The center will support master of science degrees in cybersecurity designed for working professionals, and perform research to develop tools to help protect consumers, corporations, the military, and non-profits from cyberattacks. "What makes our new center unique is its comprehensive focus on all aspects of cybersecurity," says USD's Jason Lemon.
