Nasa Selects Three Aeronautics Teams to Explore 'ambitious' Ideas

The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Convergent Aeronautics Solutions (CAS) project has selected three teams of researchers to pursue their ideas for creating components of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
The three investigations are expected to take 24 to 30 months to complete.
NASA says the studies will explore whether and how it might be possible to build a pathway toward safe inclusion and certification of autonomous systems in aviation.
In addition, the projects aim to develop new methods and technologies for a remotely piloted drone to make sure it is "fit to fly" before every single flight.
Finally, NASA says the projects will use quantum computing and communication technology to build a secure and jam-free network that can accommodate hundreds of thousands of drones flying every day.
"Our idea is to invest a very modest amount of time and money into new technologies that are ambitious and potentially transformative," says NASA's Richard Barhydt.
