Cu Boulder Wants Humans to Experience Secret Life of Pets
In the dog days of summer, it's worth asking: what is a dog's day really like?

The University of Colorado Boulder's (CU Boulder) Alliance for Technology, Learning, and Society Institute (ATLAS) has received a $750,000 U.S. National Science Foundation grant that will enable it to design and build wearable technologies to help humans experience the world through a dog's senses.
In addition, the researchers say the project should make science education more fun and help attract more kids to scientific fields.
ATLAS Institute researchers will collaborate on designing wearable technology such as earmuffs that pick up the frequencies dogs hear so humans can understand why a dog seemingly barks at nothing.
In addition, virtual reality could be used to simulate a dog's vision, which is commonly mistaken as only black and white, says CU Boulder professor Ben Shapiro.
The scientists also will develop camps for children and teachers to instruct them on making these technologies, improving them, and applying scientific processes to them.
