Google has recently launched a website to demonstrate its growing expertise in semantic search.

The Semantic Experiences website is based on semantic search that uses machine learning and natural-language understanding of words and phrases. The website offers two interactive options--Semantrics and Talk to Books.

Semantrics is a word association game that has two modes, Arcade and Block. Both versions of the game make the user aware of how Google researchers have learned to predict semantically related words. When a word or phrase is entered, the game ranks all of the words onscreen, scoring them based on how well they respond to what was typed.

Talk to Books enables users to enter a natural language phase into a text box, and then the system searches books for similar phrases, showing users which books contain them. "Talk to Books is an entirely new way to explore books by starting at the sentence level, rather than the author or topic level," says Google's Ray Kurzweil.
