India's Pratyush, Mihir among Top 100 Supercomputers Worldwide
India's two fastest supercomputers have both been ranked among the top 100 fastest supercomputers in the world.

India's two fastest supercomputers, Pratyush and Mihir, both of which were originally built for weather forecasting, are both ranked among the top 100 fastest supercomputers in the world, according to the most recent Top500 list.
Pratyush, housed at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune, has a capacity of 4.0 petaflops and ranks 39th in the world; Mihir, located at India's National Center for Medium Range Weather Forecast, has a capacity of 2.8 petaflops and ranks 66th on the list.
Both supercomputers were installed by India's Ministry of Earth Sciences in January.
This breakthrough into the top 100 improves on India's earlier ranking of 228th on the November 2017 Top500 list.
