Sixteen-year-old Sahil Khan calls himself a hacker, not a cracker, a distinction that puts him on the ethical side of computer security. A "cracker" is a cyber criminal, but a "hacker" is "a computer professional who is [an] expert in a kind of computer security," Khan says. He wrote his first book, Hackers and Crackers published by ABC Press, when he was 13, and his fourth book, Tricks of Email Hacking, will be published soon. He has also developed nine Windows-based computer games using C and C++ which are available as freeware. He has never taken a computer class.
