Hyundai Motor has developed a system that will allow drivers to unlock and start their vehicles using only their fingerprints.

Drivers must register their fingerprints to the car before using the system.

The system will be installed in the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe models, which will be equipped with a fingerprint reader in the door handle that will send the encrypted data to the system and unlock the car.

The car's ignition button will also have a fingerprint reader.

Multiple drivers can register their fingerprints, and depending on the fingerprint in use, the car will automatically adjust seat positions and the angle of the mirrors.

The fingerprint scanning technology relies on human's capacitance, allowing the system to differentiate between the electricity levels in various parts of the finger to prevent hacked or forged fingerprints.

The system has an error rate of one in 50,000, according to Hyundai.
