B-Secur's HeartKey technology, unveiled at CES 2019, allows users to unlock and start their cars via the unique beating pattern of their heart.

The technology is built on the notion that humans' individual electrocardiogram (EKG) patterns are as unique as fingerprints or iris patterns.

Algorithms can analyze that unique rhythm to authenticate the owner of the car.

A future HeartKey-enabled car could have EKG sensors in B-Secur's Advanced Auto Steering Wheel that detect the unique heartbeat of the driver. If the rhythm is right, the car will start.

In addition, the system can detect the driver's stress levels, alertness, and cardiac conditions to improve safety.

Said B-Secur CEO Alan Foreman, "HeartKey's algorithms offer greater security that protects not only our devices and vehicles, but more importantly, our physical health and safety."
