C Allows High-School Computer Science as Core Curriculum Credit
The University of California public research university system will allow high school computer science course to count toward the requirements for admission to its nine universities.

The University of California (UC) system will now allow high school computer science (CS) courses to be counted toward the core curriculum prerequisites for admission to its nine universities.
The change in policy is an acknowledgement that CS, similar to traditional science courses, has merits for students going through high school.
Going forward, California high school students may use CS credit as one of three core science classes that students must take to be eligible to attend one of the universities in the UC system.
Said Code.org founder Ali Partovi, "Wherever the change has been made to allow computer science to count, not only does enrollment increase, but diversity increases by more than twice as much as the overall growth."
