.S. Defense Digital Service Looks to Retool Tech Recruitment

The U.S. Defense Department's Defense Digital Services (DDS), an agency team of the U.S. Digital Service "using design and technology to improve the lives of American citizens," according to its website, has been tasked "to recruit non-traditional technical talent," including computer scientists, user experience designers, and product managers, via the Pentagon's Civilian Hiring as a Service Pilot Program.
The program is expected to supply a "white-glove" candidate experience to hire technology workers from industry and all government levels through ongoing engagement and communication with prospective candidates, understanding Department of Defense agencies' hiring requirements, recruiting eligible and passionate employees that "live online," and evaluating current workforce experiences.
Said DDS's Chris Lynch, "We...see this as the first step in making the mess of federal hiring far easier for tech people to join."
DDS will spearhead the initiative following rollout, while a vendor will oversee job marketing, host events, perform candidate testing, and pre-screen candidates.
A FedBizOpps request for information said the effort aims to "meet the department's needs as cyber warfare moves to the forefront."
