Automated System Can Rewrite Outdated Sentences in Wikipedia Articles
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created an automated text-generating system that pinpoints and replaces specific information in relevant Wikipedia sentences, while keeping the language similar to how humans write and edit.

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a system that can automatically update factual inconsistencies in Wikipedia articles.
The text-generating system identifies and replaces specific information in relevant Wikipedia sentences, while keeping the language similar to that written by humans.
A writer could type into an interface an unstructured sentence with updated information, with no concern for style or grammar. The system would search Wikipedia, locate the appropriate page and outdated sentence, and rewrite it in a humanlike tone.
The researchers trained the system on a popular dataset that contains pairs of sentences, in which one sentence is a claim and the other is a relevant Wikipedia sentence.
Using a technique called "SARI" that measures how well machines delete, add, and keep words compared to the way humans edit sentences, the model rated higher than traditional methods.
