Computer scientists at the University of Konstanz in Germany have developed a visualization tool to give doctors an overview of critical care bed capacities in German hospitals, displayed on a map of Germany.
The tool, called Coronavis (for coronavirus visualization), also displays expected changes in numbers of available beds.
Coronavis also can connect hospital capacities to regional COVID-19 case numbers and cases of mortality, and visualize how case numbers change over time.
The tool also allows shortages in hospitals to be predicted so that timely corresponding countermeasures can be implemented.
