Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) researchers have developed an interactive simulation application to raise awareness on the importance of social distancing during a pandemic.
The VERA tool is designed to empower users to construct visual models of social distancing regardless of their technical skill, or lack thereof, by employing artificial intelligence techniques.
The project is based on earlier work involving a virtual ecological research assistant for investigating complex ecological phenomena.
Georgia Tech's Ashok Goel said, "Think of VERA as a virtual laboratory that anyone can use. The user can jump into our program and conduct 'what if' experiments by adjusting simulation parameters."
