Pandemic Spike in AI Learning--and What It Means For Schools

Enrollments are 10 times normal at edX, the worlds largest learning platform. Computer science offerings on edX are up ninefold.

The learning platform edX has seen its enrollments increase tenfold and computer science offerings increase ninefold over the past few months, fueled by the spread of COVID-19.

A survey by edX found that 38% of learners said they want to learn something new and 25% said they wanted to upskill in their jobs.

In addition, 16% said they were replacing other forms of schooling, and just 11% said they had been recently unemployed or furloughed.

Meanwhile, course enrollments on Udemy, a video learning platform, have increased by more than 425% during the pandemic. Enrollment in the Udemy Neural Networks courses are up 61%, chatbot courses are up 60%, and a TensorFlow class is up 46%.
